## For Indian applicants
For most Indian applicants this is the most realistic permanent route: the nomination adds points and states select from their own pool rather than the national queue. The trade-off is commitment, usually two years living and working in the nominating state.

## Eligibility
- Occupation on the nominating state's list and a positive skills assessment
- Under 45 at invitation, competent English or better
- At least 65 points including the 5 nomination points; many states require more
- State-specific requirements: work experience, a job offer, or ties to the state
- Commitment to live in the nominating state for at least two years

## Documents
- Everything required for 189, plus the state's Registration of Interest or nomination application
- Evidence for state criteria: offer letters, settlement funds, residence or study history
- Commitment statement where the state requires one

## Government fee (2026-27)
- Skilled Nominated visa, Skilled Nominated, Primary applicant: A$6,140 (about ₹4,13,406 at 67.33 INR/AUD on 2026-10-07), effective 2026-07-01

## Common refusal reasons
- Nomination withdrawn because circumstances changed before the visa decision
- Points claimed in the EOI could not be evidenced
- Occupation removed from the state list between interest and invitation
